EDITORIAL PROCESS
Papers may be submitted to any Editor, including the Managing Editor, the Executive Editor and the Editor-in-Chief. An Editor may submit a paper for HHA to another Editor where it will obtain the usual refereeing process. When an article is received, the receiving editor replies to the submitter to let them know that the article has been received. That acknowledgment should be copied to the Editor-in-Chief (Gunnar Carlsson, gunnar@math.stanford.edu) and should include authors' names, electronic and postal addresses, title of the paper and date received. The receiving Editor is responsible for finding referees (typically one or two, as appropriate) and for deciding on acceptance or rejection based on these reports. Referees' names are communicated to the Editor-in-Chief by the receiving Editor. The receiving Editor has veto power over any submitted paper. Referee reports will be kept by the receiving Editor who will provide a copy to the submitter. Summaries of reports or comments on them are sent to the Editor-in-Chief for filing. The decision on acceptance or rejection is communicated to the Editor-in-Chief and to the submitter by the receiving Editor. In the case of acceptance, the receiving Editor ensures that the appropriate revisions have been made and asks the authors to submit a latex file and a matching pdf file following the author guidelines. Please be sure to remind the submitter to follow the guidelines. The receiving Editor sends these files to the Executive Editor (Don Davis, dmd1@lehigh.edu) and the Managing Editor (Dan Christensen, jdc@uwo.ca) and includes the date of submission, the date(s) that revised versions were received (if any), and the date of acceptance. The Managing Editor oversees the copyediting, and sends proofs to the submitter by e-mail. The submitter sends comments on the proofs to the Managing Editor. When the final version is ready, it is posted immediately on the web site. When the issue is complete, International Press prints it based on the files on the website.
